Robert Hugill - The Black Dragon (Irish premiere) Bob Chilcott - Aesop's Fables Jessican Norton - The Dagda's Harp (Irish premiere) Vaughan Williams - Bushes and Briars Edward Elgar - My Love Dwelt in a Northern Land Elizabeth Maconchy - Creatures (excerpts) Britten - Choral Dances from Gloriana Richard Strauss - The Castle by the Sea London Concord Singers & Jessica Norton explore story telling in music, from Robert Hugill's science fantasy inspired The Black Dragon (commissioned for London Concord Singers in 2000), to Bob Chilcott's retelling of Aesop's Fables and Elizabeth Maconchy's vivid animal pictures in Creatures. Choral Dances from Gloriana take us to Britten's evocation of Elizabethan England and Jessica Norton's new piece explores Celtic myth, whilst Richard Strauss' rarely performed melodrama combines spoken text with piano accompaniment. | |
